How to read this list

A prosthesis is not one product. It is a set of modules from several manufacturers, assembled by a clinic around a socket made for one person. The knee may be German, the foot Icelandic, the liner American, the adapters Korean, and the socket is made in a clinic in Poland.

For each company we give the country, what it makes and the route into Poland. That route is always one of three.

A confirmed channel. The company has a subsidiary, a representative or a distributor in Poland that we confirmed at source. The channel itself is described on the distributors page.

An unconfirmed channel. The brand appears in Polish clinics' supplier declarations, but we have not confirmed its Polish channel. Usually that means the clinic imports the component directly, for one specific order.

No channel. The manufacturer does not sell into Poland in any organised way. That does not mean the component cannot be obtained, only that everything depends on whether a particular clinic is willing to import it and how it handles service.

There are no ratings, no ranking and no prices here. The order follows the categories, not any judgement.

The two largest

Ottobock

Germany, since 1919. The largest manufacturer in the world and the only one with a full portfolio for both limbs: the C-Leg, Genium, Genium X3 and Kenevo microprocessor knees, the Taleo, Triton and Empower feet, the bebionic and Michelangelo hands, the MyoBock system with electrodes, wrists and elbows, Skeo and Uneo liners, adapters and socket systems.

Into Poland: a confirmed channel, through its own subsidiary Otto Bock Polska. The company also runs its own prosthetic clinics in Poland, which is exceptional on this market.

Scope: lower and upper limb.

Össur

Iceland, since 1971, today part of the Embla Medical group. The Rheo Knee and Power Knee, the Pro-Flex family of feet, Proprio Foot and Cheetah, Iceross liners and the Direct Socket system. Since the acquisition of the Scottish company Touch Bionics, also the i-Limb hands and i-Digits fingers.

Scope: lower and upper limb.

Lower limb

Blatchford

United Kingdom, a company whose line goes back to 1890, also known under the Endolite name. The Orion and Linx microprocessor knees, the latter being the only one on the market that controls knee and foot in a single system. The Elan, Echelon and Avalon feet, and axial shock absorption systems.

Into Poland: a confirmed channel, through Ortocentrum.

Proteor

France, a group based in Dijon. Knees, feet and paediatric components. In 2020 it took over the business of the American company Freedom Innovations, which Ottobock had been ordered to divest by the US competition authority. With it came the Plié 3 microprocessor knee and the Kinnex and Kinterra ankles. The group also owns the Rush line of feet, made of a glass and carbon composite and resistant to water.

Fillauer

United States, Chattanooga. A group of several brands: Fillauer itself, with feet, knees and adapters, and Motion Control, Hosmer and Centri on the upper limb side.

Streifeneder

Germany, Bavaria. Feet, knees and adapters, and beyond that workshop materials and semi-finished parts for building sockets. For a clinic the second reason matters more than the first.

Nabtesco

Japan. The ALLUX 2 microprocessor knee and hydraulic knees. Well known in Asia, present only narrowly in Europe.

WillowWood

United States, Ohio, a family company since 1907. The Alpha family of liners, feet, knees and suspension systems.

Levitate

Denmark. The Forever range of feet, Blade running prostheses and quick-change adapters.

Teufel

Germany, Wangen, a company active in orthopaedics for over a hundred and sixty years. Its own prosthetics catalogue covers below-knee, above-knee and upper limb liners, suspension sleeves, locks, valves and elevated vacuum, feet, modular adapters, knee joints, waterproof and paediatric components, and foam cosmeses.

Into Poland: a confirmed channel, through its own subsidiary WJT Ortho in Myślenice. Poland is one of only two countries in Europe where Teufel has its own staff.

Reboocon Bionics

The Netherlands. The Intuy Knee, a powered knee that actively supplies force when standing up and climbing stairs. That is a different category from a microprocessor knee, which only brakes.

BrainRobotics

China. Kneuro, a microprocessor knee. A brand with no equivalent from the other suppliers on the Polish market.

College Park

United States. Feet with an articulated ankle, among them Trustep, Soleus and Odyssey. Since June 2020 it has been owned outright by the Össur group and is still run under its own name. In the same transaction the Espire elbow line went to the British company Steeper and is no longer a College Park product.

Lindhe Xtend

Sweden. Components and adapters for the lower limb.

ST&G

South Korea. Adapters, rotation units, load-bearing parts and feet. A manufacturer invisible to the user but important to the technician, because its components are often what holds a prosthesis together.

Wagner, Orliman, Orto Europe

Three brands present in the Ortocentrum catalogue, with a narrower prosthetics range than the companies above.

Liners, suspension and sockets

This is the layer that touches the skin, and it decides everyday comfort more than any mechanical module.

ALPS

United States, since 1988. Gel and silicone liners, suspension sleeves, locks, vacuum systems, plus the BioStep feet and the ProStride knee.

Into Poland: a confirmed channel, through the ALPS South Europe branch in the Czech Republic, with no company and no representative in Poland. The company runs a Polish version of its website and a catalogue in Polish.

Coyote Design

United States. Locks, suspension systems, lanyards and socket hardware.

Into Poland: an unconfirmed channel. The brand appears in Polish clinics' supplier lists.

Silipos, Knit-Rite, ESP

United States and United Kingdom. Gel pads, stump socks, prosthetic textiles and composite liners. A segment where much of the supply reaches clinics outside organised channels.

Romedis, Click Medical, Martin Bionics

Germany and the United States. Systems for making and adjusting sockets: Symphonie for casting under load, a circumference adjustment system and open socket frames.

Into Poland: no confirmed channel. This is the area where the gap between what exists worldwide and what is realistically available in Poland is widest, even though for everyday comfort the socket matters more than the choice of foot.

Upper limb

This market follows its own rules. There are far fewer patients, the devices cost more, and public funding realistically covers passive and body-powered prostheses. The result is that a fair number of brands are formally available, but the route to them usually runs through funding from outside the system.

COVVI

United Kingdom. Multi-grip bionic hands with a configuration app.

Coapt

United States. A pattern recognition control system for muscle signals, working with hands from various manufacturers. It requires a prosthetist trained in the technology.

Ethnocare

Cosmetic covers for the upper limb.

TASKA Prosthetics

New Zealand. The TASKA CX hand, waterproof and mechanically robust.

Vincent Systems

Germany. The VINCENTevolution family, lightweight hands with sensory feedback.

Into Poland: no confirmed channel.

Open Bionics

United Kingdom. The Hero Arm, a 3D printed prosthesis aimed particularly at children and teenagers. Sold only through a network of partner clinics.

Into Poland: no confirmed channel. Access is possible through a partner clinic abroad.

PSYONIC

United States. The Ability Hand, with elastomer fingers and touch feedback.

Into Poland: no confirmed channel.

Naked Prosthetics and Point Designs

United States. Mechanical prostheses for individual fingers, driven by movement of the remaining part of the hand, and fingers with position locking. Solutions for partial hand amputation, rarely offered in Poland.

Steeper

United Kingdom. Upper limb prosthetics, including the Espire elbow line taken over from College Park.

Into Poland: an unconfirmed channel. The brand appears in Polish clinics' supplier declarations.

Esper Bionics

Ukraine and the United States. The Esper Hand, with control based on machine learning. A young company whose distribution channels are still taking shape.

Into Poland: no confirmed channel.

Motorica

Russia. Myoelectric and passive hands. We list it for completeness of the global picture. Under current legal conditions it is not a brand available on the Polish market.

Into Poland: no channel.

What this means if you are choosing a prosthesis

If a clinic offers components of a single brand only, that is usually information about its trade agreements. Ask directly how many suppliers it works with and whether it can compare two solutions of the same type.

For a component imported directly, ask about three things: delivery time, warranty terms and who will service it in three years. The third question is often the hardest to answer.

The biggest difference between the world market and the Polish one is not about knees or feet. It is about socket technology and upper limb prosthetics. That is where the choice is genuinely narrower, and where it pays to ask most carefully.

No ratings, no ranking, no prices and no payment for a listing. A brand's presence on this list is not a recommendation, and its absence is not a warning.

We confirm a Polish channel at source: through an office address, a representative for the country, a catalogue published in Polish, or an entry on a distributor list maintained by the manufacturer itself. Entries from trade aggregators are not enough.
